A social cohesion plan for Herstal:
Articulated around four areas – employment, housing, health, and social connections – Herstal’s PCS has the special feature of putting together a social cohesion office, in addition to its network of intergenerational houses and a Marijuana Intervention Center.
Objectives:
Herstal’s social cohesion plan has four objectives to meet:
- The coordination of actors on the ground, especially in terms of communication of information between the different actors and the specific actions to be taken.
- The centralization of information relating to social cohesion in one single place.
- The diffusion of this information towards the target audience through printed material and the Interned, but also and especially by office hours and on-the-ground action in the neighborhoods.
- The decentralization of different services into more local branches.
Concrete actions:
Inauguration of a social cohesion office in charge of general coordination and communication. This office is located at Boulevard Zénobe Gramme 80 • 4040 Herstal.
Implementation of a network of Intergenerational Houses, established in neighborhoods and villages. These will serve both as local branches of the Social Cohesion Office (social workers will hold office hours there) and as places where the PCS’s intergenerational section can come into play, supported by our team of organizers:
- Centre: Grégory Hendrick • bd Zénobe Gramme 80 • 4040 Herstal.
- La Préalle: pl. H. Sacré 1 • 4040 Herstal.
- Liers: Dominique Frino • rue E. Lerousseau 1 • 4042 Liers.
- Milmort: Sylvie Baré • rue de la Rennaissance 9 • 4041 Milmort.
- Pontisse: Stéphanie Vandenbergh • rue C. Speesen 1 • 4040 Herstal.
- Vottem: Céline Desgesves • rue du Bouxthay 1 • 4041 Vottem.
In addition, a Marijuana Intervention Center, in synergy with the Province of Liege, will welcome to the Social Cohesion office people who suffer from addiction, along with those around them.
Finally, several collaborations have been set up with different associations, notably a collaboration with the nonprofit organization Basse-Meuse Development as relates to qualifying and pre-qualifying training. Also, a collaboration has been established with the Inter-regional Guidance and Health Association within the framework of renewing social, intergenerational, and intercultural connections.
