Declaration of legal cohabitation
Conditions for cohabitation:
This indiscriminately concerns all couples who live at the same address without being married.
For persons of foreign origin, bring proof of non-married status.
You must be cognizant of the articles of law concerning legal cohabitation.
One copy can be issued to you at the Registry Office.

1. Declaration of cohabitation with notarized agreement:
- The declaration is made at the Registry Office.
- The following will be issued to the declarants: an acknowledgment slip mentioning the date of the declaration, the first and last names, places and dates of birth of the two parties, their shared residence, mention of their desire to live together and also a mention that they are cognizant of articles 1475 to 1479 of the Civil Code, as well as a mention of the notarized agreement.
- Obligatory presence of the two persons with identification documents.
- Bringing the notary’s attestation, proof of the agreement.
2. Declaration of cohabitation without notarized agreement:
- The declaration is made at the Registry Office.
- An acknowledgment slip mentioning the date of the declaration, the first and last names, places and dates of birth of the two parties, their shared residence, mention of their desire to live together and also a mention that they are cognizant of articles 1475 to 1479 of the Civil Code .
- Mandatory presence of both persons along with their identification documents.
- Note – if you wish to draw up a will, make the declaration of cohabitation before appearing before the notary
