In accordance with the number of residents of Herstal, the Municipal College of Herstal has nine members: the Mayor, five Aldermen, and the President of the CPAS (Public Center for Social Welfare).
When the next term of office begins, in December 2012, the Municipal College will have one less Alderman, as set forth by the Code of Local Democracy and Decentralization.
The Municipal Secretary assists the Municipal College in its work.
The College includes eight members from the socialist majority, the Mayor, 6 Aldermen, and the CPAS (Public Center for Social Welfare) President. The College also includes an Alderman from EPH/cdH (The Together for Herstal/Humanist Democratic Center Party).

The Municipal College offers a rather unique combination of skills and experience, as it is made up of both experienced and new Aldermen, who come to the College full of enthusiasm.
